In this week’s NLB Recruiting Blog, we talk to Bates Coach Mike Leonard about the recruiting process.
Every school at every level is constantly recruiting, whether it is Division III or Division I. There is active evaluation going on at every level, with coaches attending showcases and calling high school coaches to gain as much information as possible.
From a Division III standpoint, the process starts the summer of a player’s junior year most of the time. This can be a little later than the traditional process for a Division I University. 90-95% of Coach Leonard’s players have been recruited and applied early decision in the fall of their senior year.
Unlike some Division I programs, you traditionally won’t see many players getting recruited during the spring of their senior year.
