Mets’ third baseman David Wright is one of the premier players in the game today. Despite a down year in 2011, he has burst back into superstardom in 2012. Wright was drafted by the 1st round of the 2001 draft, and since his MLB debut in 2004, he has been a five-time All-Star (soon to be six-time), two-time Gold Glove Award winner and two-time Silver Slugger Award. On top of all that, he holds the Mets’ record for most career RBIs, doubles, total bases and runs scored in a career. Pretty decent considering he’s still under 30 years old!
Consistency and production have been staples throughout David’s career. This interview provides great insight into one of the best players in the game today. David addresses what it looks like to be “in the zone”, the kind of player he wants to be, what it means to work hard, how to be a leader on the team, and more.
“A lot of times the game’s so fast that once you think about it, that’s when you start struggling.” – David Wright
