The Stony Brook Seawolves baseball squad grabbed the attention of the nation during their unprecedented run to the 2012 College World Series. A big part of that 52 win season was a pitching staff that posted a 3.15 ERA (23rd best in the country). The leader of that staff was pitching coach Mike Marron.
Coach Marron was nice enough to take some time to talk to Next Level Ballplayer about the pitching grips he uses with his pitchers at Stony Brook. He breaks down the grips and mindset behind the 2 and 4 seam fastballs, slider, and change up (NOT the circle change).
Many thanks to Coach Marron for sharing his time and insights. I know the pitchers and coaches out there will enjoy this breakdown of the pitches used on one of the best Division 1 pitching staffs in the country.
